Founded in 2015 by Armen and Mary Karaoghlanian, Armenian Film Society is dedicated to celebrating and promoting Armenians stories and amplifying the voices of Armenian storytellers. We bring together individuals passionate about Armenian culture and filmmaking, fostering connections and building relationships that further enhance our vibrant community.
We believe in the power of cinema to educate, inspire, and unite. We embrace a strong commitment to nurturing authentic storytelling and supporting Armenian cinema, and serve as a comprehensive news source, networking hub, and advocate for the growth of the Armenian film community.
We provide a platform for sharing news and information about Armenians in film, highlighting their achievements, projects, and contributions. We also host year-round events, including screenings, panel discussions, and workshops, creating opportunities for filmmakers and enthusiasts to come together. In these gatherings, we facilitate meaningful conversations, spark creativity, and promote collaboration among industry professionals. We believe that by creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we can empower our community and contribute to the growth and recognition of Armenian filmmakers on a global scale.
Armenian Film Society has hosted nearly 100 events to date, and has had the privilege of welcoming renowned guests, including Joe Manganiello, Sev Ohanian, Atom Egoyan, Mardik Martin, Angela Sarafyan, and Sona Movsesian. These events have provided unique opportunities for our community to engage with industry professionals, as we facilitate a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences that contribute to the growth and enrichment of Armenian cinema.
In pursuit of our mission, Armenian Film Society has forged valuable partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the American Cinematheque and MUBI. These collaborations allow us to extend our reach, expand our programming, and provide enhanced experiences for our members and attendees. Together, we strive to create meaningful connections between Armenian filmmakers and industry professionals, fostering an ecosystem that nurtures talent and drives the advancement of Armenian cinema.
Located in the vibrant city of Glendale, California, we have created a central hub for both film lovers and filmmakers, providing a space where creativity thrives, ideas flourish, and connections are made. We are committed to strengthening the bonds within our community and engaging audiences of all backgrounds, creating meaningful cinematic experiences that foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
We are passionate about the power of film to preserve, explore, and share the rich Armenian heritage and culture. Through our collective efforts, we strive to shape a future where Armenian stories are authentically portrayed, celebrated, and embraced by audiences worldwide.
