Mardik Martin's Italianamerican Releasing on the Criterion Channel

Italianamerican, a documentary film written by Mardik Martin and directed by Martin Scorsese, is releasing on the Criterion Channel on January 1, 2023.

The 49-minute film features Martin Scorsese's parents, Catherine and Charles, who, over dinner in their New York apartment on Elizabeth Street, engage in a lively and candid discussion about their lives with their son. They discuss topics such as their upbringing, family, religion, marriage, and the hardships of poor Sicilian immigrants striving to succeed in the United States.

Mardik Martin is among the revered screenwriters on Writers Guild of America list of 101 Greatest Screenplays. In his career, he wrote a number of films for Martin Scorsese, including Mean Streets, New York, New York, and Raging Bull. Martin Scorsese was Mardik Martin's best man at his wedding.

Armenian Film Society welcomed Mardik Martin as a guest at an event in 2017. Marik Martin passed away on September 11, 2019.
